The Secret

I was reading my friend, Connie's, blog (from I Started Out As A Child) and then I copied her photo from her tree in her yard.  Hope you don't mind Connie.
It reminded me of a poem that I had my classroom children learn when I taught 4th grade.  I always really liked this poem and they did too.
I hope you will enjoy reading it.

The Secret            Anonymous

We had a secret, just we three,
The robin, and I, and the sweet cherry tree;
The bird told the tree, and the tree told me,
And nobody knows it but just us three.

But of course the robin nows it best,
Because she built the----I shan't tell the rest;
And laid the four little----something in it--
I'm afraid I shall tell it any minute.

But if the tree and the robin don't peep,
I'll try my best the secret to keep'
Though I know when the little birds fly about
Then the whole secret will be out.

I know, I know 2 posts within a matter of hours.  How did that happen?  I'm hoping to do better on  my blogging.

Emily's California Bridal Shower

On the 17th of Feb Em had her bridal shower in California.  We had it at Daisy's house where we were staying.  We always stay with her and Chuck and are grateful for their hospitality.
                                                            The food was delicious.
Costco came through with a yummy cake.

                                                  Jamie, Emily, and Selina
                                                          Danell and Pam
                                                         Kaylee and Sarah
My bestest girls, Anna and Charmela.  Oh how I love them!
Judy, who together with her hubby Chuck were kind enough to let Andrea and Yoho stay with them.
Anna with baby Joneaux and Jose's sisters, Gabby and Rosio

                                                           Dana and Michelle

                                                Lots of awesome presents

Some of us had to "dig in" to the cake.
My adorable little grandson just loved the taste. :)
Sarah did so much work helping with the shower.  She and Jamie made these cute favors for        everyone.  The cookies looked like little wedding cakes and tasted good too.  Sarah also made pinwheels and jalapenos stuffed with cream cheese that were sooooo yummy.

The shower turned out just great.  I think everyone enjoyed seeing one another, playing games, visiting, and just plain being together.  Emily was so happy and grateful for everything.

We had such a wonderful time talking to all of our friends and catching up on everyone's families and news.  I always think that my old friends are GOLDEN.  I really miss them and spending time with them a lot.  We always had good times together and they are always so good to me.  Many of them offered a spot for us or any of our wedding guests to stay.  I think that is really so nice.

Emily's Utah Bridal Shower

On the 5th of February we had a bridal shower for Emily.  It was at Valerie's house and Andrea, Val and I put it on.  We invited some very good friends and tried to stick to her color theme of hot pink and lime green.  I think it turned out especially nice.  Everyone who came was so, so, nice.
We had several really yummy salads and hummus with pita chips.  For dessert we had chocolate velvet cake, cream puffs, chocolate strawberries and a delicious caramel puff mix.
I know Emily was so happy with her party and so happy about all the lovely gifts she received.
Here is our dear friend Paulette.  I took started taking care of her adorable girls when they were just little.  Sara was 5 and Amie was 3.  They became such good friends with Andrea and Emily.  In fact Sara and Andrea have been BFF's since then.  I love Sara and Amie.
Here are Dani and Melanie with her cute little baby Broderick.  Melanie and her family have been our dearest friends since before she was born.  In fact it is her Dad who baptized us years ago.
Emily and our granddaughter Danielle.  Then there is Chris who has been a family friend forever too.  In fact, I was her very first babysitter when she was only 2 days old and her family went to a wedding.  Jordyn is playing with little Tate our great-granddaughter.
For one of the games I had a cute jar filled with jelly bellies.  Each guest was to count the jelly beans and the closet to the actual count was the winner.  Just as Jordyn picked up the jar by the lid I said, "Don't hold the jar  by the lid, it will fall."  No sooner had I said it, the jar fell.  Only some jelly beans fell out.  Then it happened a 2nd time and we had jelly beans all over Val's floor.  As luck would have it, Jordyn won the game guessing only a few numbers short of the 556 that were in the jar.  We observed the 10 second rule and ate the jelly beans anyway.
Here are Mackenzie, Jen and Val.
Our soon to be daughter JaNee and Andrea with Paulette in the background.  Paulette is certifying to be a yoga instructor.  I think that is awesome.

A good time was had by all.  We played some games, ate, talked, laughed and Em got lots of wonderful gifts.  Everyone was sooooo generous.

Wedding Preview

Jose and Emily on the wedding day.

We have spent the last 10 days in Lancaster for Emily and Jose's wedding.  We worked really, really hard getting everything ready and I am so pleased with how it all turned out.  I think it all worked out beautifully.  Here are a few preview photos.    I will post more later. This is part of the candy table.

                                                            The room looked great.

Here is Jordyn holding baby Reggie while his Mommy was doing Emily's hair.

The table decorations

Natalia was so busy moving and dancing around.  She was not still for a moment so this was the best picture I could get of her.  I had fun making her dress.

Here is my beautiful Emily on her wedding day.  She's so happy and I wish her and Jose the best life possible.

Wedding Plans

We have been in California since last Wednesday.  We drove down with Emily and Natalia and have been sooooooo busy ever since.  We are running around shopping for decorations, planning, buying last minute things (lots of things), planning her shower, working on her gown, etc. etc. etc.  It's a lot of work, but we are having a really fun time doing it and being together.  We are really enjoying each others company.  Emily and Jose went and got their marriage license and did plenty of shopping too.  It's so much more difficult when you have to do things last minute.  I hope everything will turn out well.

This is not her dress, but one of the ones she liked.  Isn't she sooooooo beautiful?  We are getting to know Jose more and more and we like him so much.  He is calm and very, very nice.  He is a super hard worker.  It's very obvious that he loves Em and Tal very much and Tal seems to really, like him too.  Wow, on Valentines Day he totally spoiled both of them.  He showered them with gifts and even made chocolate covered strawberries which we all enjoyed.  I told him that now I will have a great helper in the kitchen for special occasions.  He said that will be great.  Ha.

Today is Emily's 22nd birthday.  I can't believe my little baby is already all grown up and ready to be on her own.  Time does pass quickly.  Happy Birthday Em.  Hope you have a wonderful day and beautiful, wonderful wedding.  We are taking her out to a Peruvian restaurant today.  Should be fun to eat food from her birth country.

We have been staying with my bestest friend Daisy.  She started getting sick on Saturday.  Sunday she was still sick and in fact is still home from work.  She finally went to the Dr. yesterday and got some meds.  Well I unexpectedly got to teach her Primary class.  She has recently been released for being R.S. President a few weeks ago.  Those 7 year olds were so cute and it was a lot of fun to teach them.  I loved it.

David Duke our good friend from Texas came over for turkey dinner Sunday.  It was great to see him and to spend some time together.  He is here for a month for his work on the JSF program.  David is an engineer for Lockheed and has to come here from time to time.  He is the most wonderful guy.  You could not find a nicer guy anywhere.  He is also so smart and so much fun to talk to.  For my lesson I needed to invite someone to talk to the children and to tell them their testimony and all about how they have faith in Jesus Christ.  I asked David at the very last moment because that was when I found out and he immediately said yes.  He came in and did such a good job with the kids.  I sure did appreciate it too because it set a great tone for the rest of the lesson.  It's awesome to have good friends.

Well, I'm off to do more wedding stuff.  I am doing the gown today; shoulder straps, hem, etc.

A Whirlwind of Activities

I have been sooooo busy.  Something is going on with my computer skills and I can't seem to find the photos that I want to download.  I decided to go ahead and write anyway.

We have been busy getting ready for Emily's wedding.  The dress is here and waiting for me to make the shoulder straps and to alter it and hem it.  I am stressing.  I hope I can do it so that it looks beautiful.  We found, ordered and sent out the invitations.  We are trying to get everything arranged for the wedding.  It's difficult to do this long distance because we can't even buy everything here because we would have to take it with us.  Our car is just too small.  We have ordered lots of stuff and her fiancee has done a lot of legwork and ordering of things, etc.  It is a bit stressful.  I want it to be so nice for them.

I made Natalia's flower girl dress.  It turned out so cute, I think.  I will try to post a picture of it soon.

We, Andrea, Val, and I, gave Emily  a bridal shower.  It turned out so well.  I was so happy that everyone came.  We used her colors of bright pink and lime green to decorate and everything looked so pretty.  We played some fun games, talked, and ate yummy food.  She opened the most wonderful gifts and I'm quite sure everyone enjoyed themselves.

Andrea and I went out to dinner at Olive Garden in American Fork to meet JaNee's Grandmother, Step-mom, and her Mom.  We had previously met JaNee's Mom.  We had such a pleasant evening getting to know each other and planning the shower and rehersal dinner.  JaNee has such a nice family.  They all get along so well and I liked them very much.

We have been taking care of adorable Natalia and Reggie.  I stayed home from church last week to be with Jordyn who was having a sleep over with us Saturday night and got sick with a high fever.  I gave her meds, but by morning she was much worse and I offered to stay with her since Val is in the Primary presidency and they needed her.

Spencer and I had our date night.  I have been taking Valerie's children one at a time on a date with Grandma.  Spencer and I went out to eat at a Chinese restaurant and then we went to the dollar store where he got to choose a couple of gifts.  It took him a long time to pick out just the right things.   He finally chose a teeny, tiny travel toothbrush and a purple beanie.  That beanie was the last thing he spotted and "it spoke to him".  He loved it immediately.  We sure loved our date.  Mackenzie's date was a trip to the beauty shop to get glitter nails.  Jordyn and I also ate chinese food and went to the dollar store and then we delivered some surprise "Santa gifts" that the Relief Society President of their ward was collecting for needy families.  I love spending time with my grandchildren.  They never run out of things to talk about and we just really, thoroughly enjoy our time together.  Now my next date will be with Tanner.

I have been going to a chiropractor 3 times a week because my back is sooooo bad.  In fact I have 3 very badly compressed disks and 2 others that are tipping forward.  I have been sufering quite a bit with my back, but now after 5 weeks of treatment I am feeling a lot better. I can even get out of bed without cringing with pain.   I love Dr. Cook.  He is so kind and I think he is a great dr.  Besides adjustments I also have therapy with an electric machine.  At home I ice my back 3 times  day and do stretching and strengthening exercises.

In addition to everything else, we have been house hunting.  We are living with Andrea and Yoho.  Emily and her baby live here too.  We are all in the apt together.  We started out staying with Valerie, but because we are babysitting the little ones, it's just easier to already be here together.  I think it's very generous and very nice of them to want us to be with them.

Well there is so much more to say and we have had so many more activities, but this post is already way too long.  I hope I can learn how to retrieve my photos soon.
