Engagement of AnneLouise and Mannu

Saturday the 9th of May we got to go to the engagement party of 2 of our JA. The party was held in the backyard of AnneLouise's family. It was so much fun. As you will see from the pictures, it was very much like a bar-b-cue party that we have in the United States.

These pictures are in reverse order because I forgot that the first are always last. Anyway, we all had a toast to the bride and groom with sparkling cider after the meal. There were 2 very yummy cakes which everyone enjoyed so much. They also served fresh strawberries and cream puffs for dessert.

There was lots of yummy food with the main course being bar-b-cue beef cubes separated by onions and green peppers and very long sausages which we ate in baguettes. There were lots of salads, chips, pate, and crudites with dips.

AnneLouise getting a bite to eat.

Manu's Mom, Francoise, is very friendly and very nice. She is usually dressed very fancily and sometimes eccentrically.

While the men bar-b-cued, the kids played in the yard, ran around, dressed up in costumes, and jumped on the trampoline.

AnneLouise's Dad is quite ill, but was able to have some conversation with DH before he went back to bed. Poor guy is just wasting away. The 2 Patriarch's had a lot to discuss.

AnneLouise's Mom, Claire, is one of the nicest people one could know. She and I talked for about 40 minutes and I'm happy to report that I understood everything that she said to me. Of course, she spoke slowly and clearly and if I didn't understand something, she would use a different word or explain it until I did understand. She also understood my poor french.:)

Emiline, Manu's sister, and Kevin are a newly engaged couple.

The flowers that I brought were just perfect to go with their decorations. AnneLouise and Manu will get married in September in the London Temple. We hope to be able to go with them.

Looks like a lovely engagement party. The food sounds (and looks delicious). How fun that you will be able to go to the London Temple with them.
